Seeing God’s glory daily!

I have been praying according to Jesus’ model that “we would see His glory” and was convicted because I know so little of what His glory even is. So, I started studying passages with reference to His glory and my eyes are opening…

We have descriptions of what God’s glory looked like in the OT but, the reality is that Paul told us “man is the glory of God” and he described how different things in God’s creation have different aspects of glory.

God will manifest His glory differently in people’s lives because all believers are a part of Him, Jesus. In Jesus, God manifested the fullness of Himself (and the radiance of His glory). Jesus asked the father to give His disciples and those that believe because of their testimony (that’s us!) that same glory! This passage may be a bit long but, it is TOO GOOD to skip!

I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.” John 17:20-25

I can’t even begin to articulate the depths of this passage or God’s glory but, I will testify to what God is showing me.

God shows His glory by continually redeeming us.

I’m talking about more than redeeming us from the Kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of light. Not to downplay that wonderful gift and miracle but, too focus on some of the results of abiding in that Kingdom of light; the reign of God…Jesus as Lord of our lives, in a very real and practical way.

Paul said that he would boast in his weakness because, the Lord personally told Him: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.

We all have weaknesses in our daily lives and we can all see God’s glory regularly by acknowledging that weakness to God and asking for His grace and power in that weakness. It’s not extremely popular right now for Christians to confess their weakness, let alone boast in it but, that is where God loves to manifest His grace that He alone is glorified!

Since praying consistently for insight into God’s grace, I am only recently recognizing the glory that He has manifested, day to day. For example, I used to despise going to the grocery store, doing dishes and such…But, now that I am a stay-at-home dad and finally submitting to the Father’s will; I have embraced this season. Now, he has given me victory (which brings Him glory) over many previous weaknesses  and even given me joy in doing a lot of the things that I used to hate!

Doing dishes, I have great prayer and worship time with the Lord! Some very deep revelation comes as I meditate on His Word or pray in the Spirit while scrubbing pots and pans…Seriously. ***see note below***

Shopping at the grocery store has become an opportunity for God’s light to shine in the darkness! I do not strive to evangelize to every single person, like I used to when I first encountered the Holy Spirit but, I follow His lead. Sometimes I am lead to pray for someone, sometimes I am “caught” worshiping God in song by another shopper but, usually I just bless whoever we talk to by saying “God bless you.”

My point of these examples is not to show how much I am doing for the Kingdom of God because, I haven’t seen one person saved or healed. But God brings the increase whether we sow or water and He is the only one who deserves glory. One of the ways He receives glory by redeeming not only us but, by showing how powerful His grace is in previously weak areas of our lives!

We should let the redeemer continue to redeem! If we would stop trying to be the strong one in this relationship (even by proclaiming His written word) and simply humble ourselves in our weakness, acknowledge the need for His grace, He would show us His glory in new and powerful ways! He is still making all things new, He will continue to redeem in every area of our lives that we allow Him too and He is the only one who is able!

All power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory and blessings to Jesus Christ, the worthy Lamb of God, the Living Word, King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
