God’s Thoughts

between heaven and earth

One of the biggest strongholds that I have dealt with and maybe still am dealing with is “what will _______ think?”

Galatians 1:10 “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ!”

Caring about what people think is dangerous because it leads us away from glorifying God. Jesus said to the religious people of his day; “”How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God?

Their fear of man actually prevented them from believing in their Messiah! Proverbs 29:25 says “The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted.Because “The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life!” (Prov.14:27)

The Scriptures also say “The LORD knows man’s thoughts; they are meaningless!” (Psalm 94:11) That means my thoughts, your thoughts, and everyone else’ thoughts are ALL worthless. Eternally speaking, the only thing that has value is what is inspired by God.

The Lord says in Isaiah 55:7-9 “let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts
Because “
my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

All our thoughts are like dirt but, His are like the glory of the Heavens. Our only hope is in Him renewing our mind by the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures. Once we begin to practically LIVE Philippians 4:8, which says: “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Then we will begin to think as He thinks, which is the only way to fulfill Romans 8- “those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace…For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”

A mature, huios/son of God is lead by the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures makes a clear distinction between a child of God and a son of God***. A son (can be a female too) of God follows the Spirit and their mind is set on Heavenly thoughts. The Holy Spirit governs the mind with peace, even in the midst of a storm. The Holy Spirit leads in a life of selfless love, teaching us how to die to ourselves daily so the life and glory of Jesus will be made manifest in us!

We do very little, except believe and choose…sometimes we have to choose to believe. But, the Holy Spirit does almost everything! This is why Jesus said “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
