Revelation gives us some amazing glimpses into God’s Heavenly Temple and Throne Room. One of the things that has blown me away as I study this profound book is the absolute, non-stop worship of God.
Rev. 5:12 describes some amazing creatures and myriads (perhaps more than billions) of Angels giving complete worship to the Lamb, Jesus.- “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.”
That is a 7-fold praise and I believe it symbolizes the complete, perfect worth of Jesus to receive everything and anything that is of value in Heaven and on earth! If those majestic beings that have lived for at least thousands of years recognize that Jesus is worth so much, how much more should we !?
Colossians 1:16-18 records “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.”
There is a lot of powerful truth in those few verses but, notice that “all things were created through Him and for Him!”
That needs to be so much more than proper doctrine. It should be the reality of our lives! It’s really not a chore to lay down our lives for His sake but, a privilege!
We know that “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11) But, how often do we neglect to live like it? How many frivolous, worldly things do we “exalt” above the name of Jesus by simply valuing them more than Him?
Do we really live a lifestyle that in “Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father?” (Col.3:17) and “Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Cor.10:31)
I don’t. But, this isn’t about being condemned because God isn’t accusing us. Satan is the accuser of the brethren (Rev.12:10) and Jesus is our Mediator, our Advocate and Defender! (1 Tim.2:5)
However, it’s my desire to do so more and more everyday! That’s what life is about. Not necessarily saying “Oh, yeah. I do that now. I have arrived.” But, recognizing that we still have growing to do and that today is a new day to give Him even more glory and worship than the day before.
Because He truly is worth everything that we have, think and do and He alone is worthy NOW!
