Jesus preached the Word of the Kingdom, the Gospel of Himself. He commissioned his followers to do the same and to disciple others to do all that he taught them. There is no mention of “getting people born-again to go to Heaven” in the Bible…that’s the starting point of Jesus’ preaching but, He had no time for people that wouldn’t forsake all of their worldly cares and follow him whole-heartedly.
Actually, Jesus kind of antagonized people to forsake him because when they really started to believe; they kept trying to exalt him as King too early and he would speak something really extreme to them that completely blew their religious mindsets. I.E. ~”In most solemn truth I tell you,” said Jesus, “that unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no Life in you.” Immediately the people were divided about him. Some just left, others mocked him, some attempted to kill him and only a faithful few stood by him. (Suddenly I am reminded of the “Parable of the Sower”) Let’s always stand by the Living Word and reject anything that contradicts Jesus!
But the Gospel of the Kingdom of God has generally been reduced to “getting people born-again.” There is much more and I think that it is “concealed” within the many profound pages of the Scriptures. Only Holy Spirit should guide us into this truth because only he can.
Revelation 5:5,6 ~”And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.6And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.”
The Root of David is rarely mentioned in the Bible but, very significant in Isaiah 11, which describes the 7-fold anointing of Holy Spirit spoken of in Rev.5:6. But, I believe that the 7 horns are not detailed here because the 7 eyes are also referred to in Zech.3:9 ~ “For behold, on the stone that I have set before Joshua, on a single stone with seven eyes, I will engrave its inscription, declares the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of this land in a single day.”
That’s such an awesome prophecy about Jesus! Even the name Joshua is the same name Jesus in Hebrew, which means “Yahweh is salvation”! Jesus is YHWH and YHWH is our salvation! If you aren’t familiar with the different names that YHWH defined himself by in the O.T., take the time to seek it out and see who Jesus is, always was and always will be! (Hebrews 13:8)
In the Scriptures, eyes are descriptive of spirit many times but, horns describe something different. Without getting too detailed; in O.T. symbolism, horns describe power or strength.
Romans 1:16 & 17 tells us ~ “For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the righteous shall live by faith.”
The Word is the Gospel and that word is the power of God! In the Gospel; God reveals his righteousness from faith to faith! We must grow in faith beyond where we are to perceive God’s righteousness! We were birthed in righteousness by faith and we continue to walk by faith in Jesus as our righteousness! This verse actually begins to articulate what I believe is the 4th horn, “the Word of Righteousness”. So I need to move back to establishing the Gospel as His power.)
Hebrews 1:3 says of Jesus ~ “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high…”
It sounds to me like Jesus is holding the entire universe together by the Gospel! Maybe understanding this Gospel better would be a really good idea…
I believe that Jesus, as the Lamb spoke the 7 horns/words of his power on the cross. Where else would the Lamb release his power over all things, but in his most crucial hour?
1st word recorded on the cross in “Luke 23:34: Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”
Jesus asked Father to forgive all of mankind because none of us ever understood what we were doing! He did this as he was bleeding on the cross because of us and made peace with us and the Father. I think this is “The Word of Reconciliation” that is mentioned in 2 Cor.5:19 ~ “God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.”
Of course forgiveness had to come first because even God can’t make someone a new creature until they are forgiven and given right-standing before Him! God is omnipotent and completely sovereign but, He has chosen to only act according to His Word.
Also in Col.1:19,20 ~ “For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”
The 2nd thing that Jesus spoke was “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise!”
Truly – because it is the “Word of Truth.” Col.1:5, Eph.1:13 and James 1:18 (see below) mention this Word in the beginnings of their Epistles in reference to being born again. “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.”
The truth is that much of American church culture has neglected the greatness of this salvation and has rested content in being “born-again” but, this is the infant stage of normal Christianity. Yes Christian; your spirit is going to heaven when you die but, didn’t Jesus declare that we are supposed to be with him in paradise TODAY?
If you have any skepticism about this new theory; consider this~ In the tabernacle (which was completely symbolic of Heavenly things) there were 7 furnishings. The 1st 2 are in the outer courts and first was the brazen altar; where the sacrifice for forgiveness of sins was given to reconcile them with God. Seriously consider this!
2nd was the brazen laver which was like a mirror that they washed themselves in to become clean, sanctified. Back in James 1; he continued to refer to the word of truth as a mirror that we behold ourselves in and Jesus spoke in John 17:17 “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.”
Because this being birthed by the Word and being cleansed by the Word are necessary to enter Paradise, continuing into the Holy Place which is past the outer Courts inside the Temple!
There are 5 more horns of Jesus’ Gospel to hold on to for growing from faith to faith in the greatness of our salvation and I will testify that I have only grasped these in the past few months. Actually, I have probably only grasped the beginning stages of these next 2 but, they have changed my life, my walk with Jesus and my understanding of his love for us forever!
I believe they are: 3rdly~ The Word of the Oath/Promise and 4th~ The Word of Righteousness.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ as Lord of everything is so powerful, so amazing and so deep that we can search Him out for the rest of our lives and be constantly blown away by how profound his wisdom is! I will not be content with the little that I perceive now…
