The Scriptures as a Mirror

we all, with unvailed face, the glory of the Lord beholding in a mirror, to the same image are being transformed, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Cor.3:18)

We must come to the place where we look into the mirror and see that Christ is in us. We see who God has made us to be because Jesus said “Whatever is born of flesh is flesh but, whatever is born of Spirit is spirit.” (John 6:3) and Romans 8:9 “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you.”

We must stop seeing with our eyes and walk by faith! “Eyes of the heart opened”, “eyes to see and ears to hear”. Proverbs 20:12  says they are both given by the Lord. Have we asked? “We have not because we ask not.”

We seriously need to stop seeing ourselves in the flesh. Later in 2 Cor.5:16,17 ~ “Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer.17Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”

That means we don’t recognize ourselves according to the flesh and we don’t recognize others but according to who we are in the spirit! Col.3:1-4 ~ “If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. 2Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. 3For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.”

We see that Christ is our life. We focus our attention on who He is and we perceive more clearly who we are and He manifests His life in us more and more every day! I’m not trying to be a good Christian…that religious bondage! Jesus shows me more of Himself daily and I lay aside my old ways to identify with Him as my life! I have a very real relationship with the Lord of Lords over all Heaven and earth.

Back to 2 Cor.3 ~ Paul was speaking of the difference between glory of the ministry of death, condemnation and the NEW ministry of righteousness by the Spirit! (It’s all in 3:7-11) The Mirror of God’s words should now show us our righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, the “New man” created in holiness, truth and righteousness (Eph.4:23) Because the old has passed away (in the spirit) and we are completely new creature (in the spirit)…we look into the mirror to see the glory of Jesus in us renewing our minds in our new identity; not to condemn us (there is no condemnation for our spirits in Christ Jesus- Rom.8:1) but, to reveal who we now really are so that we grow in faith and f aith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God- Rom.10:17.

From faith to faith; not doubt to doubt. From glory to glory not bummer to bummer. The Scriptures become to us spirit and life (John 6:63) when we see the glory that God has given us in Christ Jesus! (John 17:22)

Paul spoke about the glory being revealed by Holy Spirit to us and in us in 2 Cor.4:6 ~“For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” which takes us back to the verse we started with ~ “we all, with unvailed face, the glory of the Lord beholding in a mirror, to the same image are being transformed, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2 Cor.3:18)
