The True Word, God’s Kingdom and the New Heaven

In the Old Covenant, the “Word of God” was considered to be Scripture and was idolized according to “The Letter of the Written Law” but “The Letter kills and the Spirit gives life!”

The Word of God is not a book; He is a Man. Fully man, fully God. The Word of God is Jesus. The Word of God was with God in the beginning and was (still is) God and became flesh that we would behold the glory of God! But, we don’t behold God’s glory in the Scriptures but by the Spirit we behold his glory with unveiled faces and are transformed into the same image!

We worship the Word of God, Jesus who is exalted above the Heavens above God’s own name! We don’t worship the Scriptures, the Bible which is a Holy Spirit inspired book but, IS NOT GOD. If you examine Jesus’ throughout Mt,Mk,Lk and especially John; He continually emphasized the idea ~ Moses taught________ but, I SAY!” The LAW, Prophets, Moses…Jesus did say ~

17“Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.18“For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19“Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

Because He fulfilled ALL the LAW and therefore must have fulfilled all the OT Prophets! Yes, Heaven and earth “passing away” is directly linked to the LAW being fulfilled! Jesus taught them and kept them as he taught them! He did not abolish them or teach anyone to. He himself IS our peace and made peace  ~15by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances..

He did this by fulfilling it….not neglecting it! That was Jesus’ point to the Pharisees. His point was not that a single one of the LAW’s would never lose it’s value. The point was that HE WOULD fulfill it all before it did.

Again ~ “The Law and the prophets were until John. From that time the kingdom of God is proclaimed, and everyone forces his way into it ~ Luke 16:16

Jesus brought the shift, the transition. The LAW and prophets were being fulfilled in Jesus. The old was passing away because the new was come. It had come and was coming MORE! If what was passing away had glory, how much greater will the glory of what was coming have?

“For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John.” ~ Matt.11:13 All of the OT prophesied about Jesus and the Kingdom that was come! “And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of the heavens is taken by violence and the violent seize it.” ~ Matt.11:12

Jesus brought the Kingdom with Him and He didn’t take it away. He left it to the faithful followers ~28“You are those who have stayed with me in my trials, 29and I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom” Luke 22:28,29

That little nugget is nestled directly between 2 huge failures of the Disciples. They had just been arguing (AT THE TABLE DURING THE LAST SUPPER, NO LESS) about who was the greatest among them (again) and immediately after Jesus confers the Kingdom; He prophesies to Peter that he will betray him. Peter even has the audacity to contradict the most pure prophet of all time and deny his future denial in front of everyone.

Because none of that could stop the fact that Jesus came to establish His Kingdom!

Later, Jesus prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem, the temple and “The end of the age” which was their age. The completion of the age of the Old Covenant, the Mosaic LAW…when ALL WAS FULFILLED by Jesus ~

34“Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

THAT generation was the one who received God’s wrath because they crucified Jesus, rejected their own Messiah King and His Kingdom! Then they had the audacity to swear an oath of Jesus’ very own most sacred blood on their heads and the heads of their children! All of this after he told them not to swear oaths and that Moses had told them years ago that “the life is in the blood” and not to defile their land with blood.

Not only did they have it coming…but they literally ASKED for it. How much louder did the blood of Jesus speak over the voice of Abel; which apparently was still “speaking” thousands of years later? As Jesus performed all of the Priestly requirements in the TRUE Heavenly Temple to prepare the WAY for us to enter the Holy of Holies (NOW), that generation HAD to receive the righteous judgements of God that was required.

But, Jesus again mentioned “Heaven and earth passing away”. He spoke it immediately after saying “THAT generation” would not pass away until all was fulfilled! He said it in Matt, Mk an Lk and as usual John has no record of it….or does he?

If John’s account of the “end of their age” is truly in the Book of Revelation; maybe it’s ~ 1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away…

Consider  some of  the promises made concerning this “New Heaven and New Earth” in the next few verses ~3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling placea of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people,b and God himself will be with them as their God.”

Isn’t all of that already true?

I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. 7“He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.

Also already true.

What if this “New Heaven and New Earth” is not about the literal new universe but, about the Gospel of the Kingdom having replaced “The Law and the Prophets?”

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”

In 1st Corinthians ,the “baby” Corinthians were reprimanded for thinking like “mere men” with human wisdom and not being able to handle the spiritual wisdom of God. Then in 2nd Cor. 5 Paul wrote ~

from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17Therefore if anyone is in Christ,he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”

IN CHRIST is where the new creation is! Not in some future, magical golden cube that is coming down from Heaven; called “New Jerusalem”.

We have already come to New Jerusalem when we were “born again” and she is our mother! We already live in New Jerusalem because it’s all about WHO we NOW are in the spirit because we are literally joined to the Lord in spirit!

Now we take every promise of God (which is true in Christ) concerning “Zion” or “Jerusalem” or “Israel” and believe to receive because it’s all written to the true Children of God (sometimes called seed of Abraham) by faith IN CHRIST; who IS our real life!
