Is it “Good or God”? It’s the difference between following our own wisdom and understanding or being lead by the Holy Spirit (who is God’s Spirit of wisdom and insight)! God’s will versus man’s will. Even if our desires are to do good, if they are not God-ordained, they profit nothing!
God has truly approved us in Christ (in the spirit) forever because of Jesus righteousness given to us by faith! (Rom.10:4 & 5:17 & 3:22) and now that he has “Made the tree good, it will bear good fruit”. If we simply abide, remain in the Vine.
We abide in Christ and us in Him when we trust him. Believe that He is here, that He has not and will not ever leave us and rewards those who seek him in confidence and faith. We focus our thoughts and desires towards intimately knowing him more in all that we do. We rest in being a beloved child of Almighty God and find our approval in Jesus forever.
Beloved, BE LOVED by God! We are all loved but, we are not all BEING loved! The difference is like someone that leaves all of the doors to their house locked at all times out of fear but, Almighty Father God simply wants us to leave our hearts open to Him at all times. Send out prayers, praise and worship like invitations for God to come in and dine with you. God is a gentleman and will not force himself on his beloved children.
When Jesus introduced the “I am the Vine, Abide in me” principle it was after the unfaithful disciple, Judas had left. Jesus gave his most intimate words and promises to the faithful that remained because he knew he was hours away from being mocked, beaten and crucified in front of their very eyes. John 15’s focus is not on “being born-again” but on “walking in the Spirit” and it revolves around one simple principle.
“Remain in my love.” ~ Jesus
“7“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8“My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, andso prove to be My disciples. 9“Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. 10“If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love”
Abide in Me…Abide in my love.
When Jesus mentioned bearing fruit that remains, he spoke about one fruit, not fruits! After checking the Greek, I found that Paul and James followed His lead (imagine that!)
“And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those making peace.” ~ James 3:18
“22But the fruit of the Spirit is love…” Gal.5
Paul wrote about how inferior every gift or work was compared to agape love. ~“but do not have love, I am nothing. 3And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. 4Love is patient, love is kind” (1 Cor.13)
back to Gal.5:22 ~ “joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Since love is patient and kind; there is no patience or kindness without love. These “such things” are not the singular fruit of the Spirit. They describe the singular fruit, which IS LOVE. Love, the singular fruit of righteousness.
9And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, 10so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; 11having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1)
Let love abound in wisdom and that is being filled with the fruit (singular) of righteousness, it comes through abiding in the Vine!
In one of the last recorded Scriptures written, Holy Spirit finally revealed God’s complete nature and the simplicity of how we “walk in the Spirit”. This writing has some “hard to chew meat”. Admittedly, I don’t understand it all but this much is clear~
15Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17By this, love is perfected with us…
Notice how clearly John repeated the message of Jesus from John 15?
Relationship with God is abiding in love. Being loved by God and BEING love. This is how we know we are in the Spirit and we will bear much love fruit, which is joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle and self-controlled!
“12No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us. 13By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. ~ 1 John 4
