1Then you will say on that day,
“I will give thanks to You, O LORD;
For although You were angry with me,
Your anger is turned away,
And You comfort me.
What day? Probably the age of Messiah (which means Christ) that is described in the previous chapter. What has been erroneously called “The church age”. NOW, we give thanks to the Lord because he has no wrath for us and is never angry with us but has sent us the Comforter!
2“Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
For the LORD GOD is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.”
God Himself is our Savior, Jesus! We trust him with all of our hearts and his perfect love casts out all fear! We have peace, joy, faith in His rest. WHY? Because He is the Spirit of grace who strengthens us when we are weak! God has become our salvation! Jesus has become our salvation! Interestingly, the Hebrew word “salvation” is “Yeshuah”, which means Jesus! Imagine their surprise when they read ~ “God is my Jesus…He has become my Jesus!”
God has become my Jesus! My Jesus is God! It get’s better too!
Remember the woman at the well? “whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” ~ John 4:14
12:3 ~ 3Therefore you will joyously draw water
From the springs of salvation.”
We joyfully draw water from the spring of Jesus! Holy Spirit is like a 7-fold “Fountain of Life!” Remember the previous chapter, 11:1,2 described him with “The Spirit of….the Lord, Counsel, Power, Wisdom, Insight, Fear of the Lord and Knowledge of God”? At the end of the chapter in 11:15, he prophesied the 7 branched River?
He’s describing the same thing. The River of Life that proceeds from God’s Throne is Holy Spirit! Jesus said about Him ~
38“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” 39But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Interestingly, there is no Scripture that specifically says what Jesus quoted above. Is it possible that Jesus was eluding to Ezekiel’s prophecy of the 3rd Temple? “19What, know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you…”~ 1 Cor.6:19
Proverbs declared about the Holy Spirit, Fountain of Life ~“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life…” ~ (Prov.14:27) and “22Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it…” ~ Prov.16:22a
The Fountain of Life is the Spirit of God…Jesus, who is the fountain of Salvation! Jesus is the Life and our true life is hidden with Christ in God! (Col.3:3,4)
12: ~ “4And in that day you will say,
“Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name.
Make known His deeds among the peoples;
Make them remember that His name is exalted.”
NOW, we thank the Lord because whoever calls on his name is saved! We testify and declare his goodness because we are his witnesses, His priests to minister the Gospel to the world! We will remind them that Jesus IS the name above every name!
5Praise the LORD in song, for He has done excellent things;
Let this be known throughout the earth.
That speaks for itself.
Finally… “6Cry aloud and shout for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
For great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”
He is already in our midst! How much closer does God need to get than INSIDE us?
16“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you…20“In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you (John 14)…
IN THAT DAY! In what day? THIS DAY! The Age of Christ!
7‘But I tell you the truth; it is better for you that I go away, for if I may not go away, the Comforter will not come unto you (John 16)…
22“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one;23I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. (John 17)
