Jesus is the Word

I know it’s basic but, it is my opinion that this is the Cornerstone!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.” (John 1:1,2- logos used all 3 times)

Later in the same chapter: “And the Word became flesh, and did tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)

Near the end of John’s visions of Heaven and the restoration of all things in the book of Revelation:

Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.” (Rev.19:11-13)

We don’t worship a book, the Bible! We worship the King of kings and risen Lord Jesus Christ, the Word of God! I say this because of my past obsession with the Scriptures. I literally believed that the Bible was worthy of worship because the Bible is called the word of God.

I was like one of the religious leaders that Jesus told: “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me!”(John 5:39)

Now, this is part of my worship of Jesus…to understand what the Scriptures truly say about the logos/word of God and to continue to know the truth and continue to be set free!

In Jesus’ final teaching with the faithful 11 disciples before He gave Himself to the cross, He articulated many intimate truths with them. John chapters 14-17 is a treasure chest of powerful promises to all that are faithful disciples. It’s so important that we realize the promises in these chapters are for us and that we walk in those truths! Jesus makes this very clear at the end of this intimate discourse in John 17:20,21

I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us…”

Jesus had prayed in v.17; “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” for the disciples and for all who would believe! Jesus said that He was the way, the truth and the life and He asked the Father to sanctify them in the logos/Word, the truth. Jesus went on to say in v.19: “And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.

I believe He was actually asking the Father to sanctify them in HIM, we are sanctified in Jesus; who is the truth!

1 Cor.1:30 records: “you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption.”

That’s a powerful verse that is deeper than I know but, my focus is on Jesus having become our sanctification as we are in Him. We are only sanctified to the extent that we are in the logos/Word, Jesus Christ. He is the truth we are sanctified in. Your spirit is in Christ, as a born-again believer! Where is your mind and your flesh? Do you keep your thoughts fixed on Christ or are you distracted by the cares of this world?

God’s not content with your spirit being sanctified. He wants your thoughts fixed on Him, your mind renewed, you transformed and sanctified completely IN CHRIST! At the end of 1 Thess.5 it says that part of God’s will is for you to be sanctified in spirit, soul and body. He wants every part of your being set apart from the world for Him, in Him; forever!

What else does the Bible define as the logos/Word of God than Jesus? I believe that the Scriptures make it clear that the logos is not “limited” to Jesus but includes more…
